The Wise Speech Oath
Our ethical and moral code of conduct expresses how we are to communicate with each other especially when it comes to:
- The increasing political division between liberals and conservatives.Â
- The alarming rise of antisemitism
We do this by inviting all Americans to voluntarily take a personal oath of verbal conduct that specifies which behaviors and words need to be discontinued to prevent civil conflict or worse.
What are the consequences if a person violates the oath? From the standpoint of the Law, NONE! Since the Oath is not codified as a Law, the government cannot try, convict, or punish anyone for violating it. Personal consciences and morals exist to fill that role.
However, persons in the Wise Speech Movement can collectively voice their disapproval to the media, government officials, and friends – a number which could be in the tens of thousands and result in damages to reputations and careers.
